What’s the IPX mean for each grade?

From the contents of IEC 60529. the IP level format is IPXX. First X stands for products shell against the foreign objects ability, such as dust, sand, finger etc. Dust test chamber produced by Labtek Instruments can be used for IP5X, IP6X test. Second X stands for protection level of waterproof.

3 Prevent foreign objects more than 2.5mm Prevent the object, tool, wire intrusion which diameter is greater than 2.5mm
4 Prevent foreign objects more than 1.0mm Prevent the mosquitoes, insects or objects intrusion which diameter of more than 1.0mm
5 Dustproof Can not completely prevent dust intrusion, but the amount of intrusion of dust will not affect the normal operation of electrical compliances
6 Dustproof Completely prevent dust intrusion
